Today will be summer’s best holiday, with lots of families gathering for picnics or trips to the beach. We plan to hang out close to home and grill some steaks just before dark, then we’ll drive over to the lake and watch the free fireworks from the park. Too bad we can’t make this holiday a two day event - we should have the 4th and the 5th off. Lots of us need the 5th to get over the late night partying and hangovers from the night before!
Played a great April Fool’s joke on the boss.
He’s been in Europe for the past 2 weeks on business. Having a lot of fun, too. The company is downsizing and laying off people like crazy, so it occured to me to play on any insecurities he might have about his own position with the company.
I had a little brown door sign made that says “Closet.” The guys at the trophy shop made one for me at lunch yesterday. Cost $3 and it matches the name plates they use in the building.
Took a bunch of large cardboard boxes, assorted sizes and condition, and stacked them floor to ceiling in the boss’s office in front of his desk and around the door, so that when you open the door all you see is boxes in every direction.
Slide out the boss’s nameplate on his office door and slid in the “Closet” sign.
He got back from his trip and came in to work this morning. Freaked out. Loved it.
This is an early Easter but I’m ready for it.
Easter always means spring is here, there are baby ducks and baby chicks and Easter eggs and lots of candy.
All the fun of family and good food without the stress of having to buy everyone presents. What’s not to like?
My grandparents used to host an Easter egg hunt at their house for all the grandchildren and cousins. It was always a couple dozen kids running around the yard with baskets and a house full of grown ups eating ham and potato salad and singing rowdy English songs all afternoon. Great fun, great memories.
